A deadlock may be either single cylinder or double cylinder. A single cylinder deadlock will accept a key on only one side of the lock; it is operated by a twist knob on the other side. Double cylinder locks will accept a key on both sides not having any twist knob. Preventing unwanted unlocking of the door by force.

In order to rekey a deadbolt you must first determine the brand or manufacturer of your lock. It is usually stamped on either the interior faceplate of the lock or above the keyhole on the exterior face of the lock. After you have done all that you must remove the screws from the front of the lock on the inside part of the door, DO NOT USE THESE!. After that you must, insert your key into the lock, then, remove the outer lock cylinder. After that follow instructions on how to insert the new front of the lock and then replace all the screws and that’s it.
